OACM New Continent: Africa - Kenya
OACM board member and World Ocean Council President Dr Taleb Rifai - former UNWTO General Secretary - considers Africa to be one of the OACM's main priorities next to the G7 nation partnership. Dr Taleb Rifai has initiated discussions with Kenya's minister of tourism Najib Balala who has expressed an interest and further discussions will be held next week during the OACM President Kristijan Curavic's and Dr Taleb Rifai's official visit to Dubai. OACM is expected to send its official delegation to Kenya by the end of 2020 if the current travel restrictions allow it. Africa's coastal and marine areas have a big plastic problem and the CSMA certification and cleaning of the coastline will help Kenya in achieving a better global position on the tourism industry market.
