CSMA Bond: €3 Million Donation to Mozambique
During the Global Tourism Forum, OACM President H.E. Kristijan Curavic, together with the High Representative for the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions, officially presented a CSMA Bond valued at €3 million to the Secretary of State for Tourism, H.E. Fredson Bacar, from the Ministry of Economy in Mozambique, on behalf of the OACM and the World Tourism Forum Institute.
This is one of four intended CSMA Bond donations to African Nations designed to develop environmental resilience within the tourism sector. Angola, the Maldives, and Mozambique will follow a pilot program in Egypt that is currently under administrative preparation.
The CSMA Bond is awarded by the OACM from the CSMA Environmental Resilience and Solidarity Fund. This fund supports national economies and growth through empowering local communities by creating Certified SAFE Marine Areas (CSMA)—the most fundamental tourism industry service. The CSMA ensures:
"Plastic-free coastal areas beneath and above the ocean surface, annually maintained and inspected, saving marine life and and reducing human health risks."
